Have you ever doubted if your horse was eating the right amount of hay per day? Or if the amount they eat changes based on weather or other circumstances?
I was tired of assuming that they were eating the right amount of hay, or even knowing for sure what that “right amount” really was…so, starting in October of 2023, we began weighing every bit of hay we put out for our trio of horses. We also weigh their leftovers, which provides us with pretty accurate data on what they are eating daily! We log our data in 24-hour intervals, and pull weather data from the nearest weather station.

Hay Consumption Report
You’ll find this interesting if:
You are curious about how much a herd of three horses eat on average when fed 24/7 hay.
You are wondering what it might cost to feed a herd of three horses 24/7 hay.
You are looking for some concrete proof that horses can self-regulate when allowed access to forage 24/7.
You are simply a nosey person, like me 😉
I will be updating this report as we get more months of data! Currently, it is 9 months worth of data from October 2023-June 2024. I will send you an email with the updated full year report when it is ready! You can always unsubscribe.
